My pictures are inventions.
They show the real world only as an essence, as a distillation of my reception of reality. My pictures are not intended to represent anything, at most to remind us of something. They do not point the way, they accompany me on the way. They are intended to open a door, not to make my observation of the world the standard. In my series of works, I deal with the themes of chaos and order, serial work, patterns and structure. Structure gives chaos stability. It is not a limitation, but a yardstick.

I am currently working on the following series:

Scala
Scala means scale, ladder, staircase, dimensional division, musical scale. Scala is also the name of a computer language. It works with (quote) "pattern matching, a symbol-processing method that identifies discrete structures on the basis of a given pattern." The images show structures that are captured by a grid, superimposed by layering and then emphasised again and thus identified. I examine the weighting and value of the colours, patterns and surfaces and relate them to each other. The picture tells of this investigation. The history of this search can be read in the picture, is shown in windows and glimpses of the epochs of its creation. Forms and colours that first emerged fade and blur, or disappear completely. Many things can only be surmised or traces can be discovered only on closer inspection.

Room with a View
The pictures in the "Room with a view" series work with the themes of Scala and expand on them. The grids that structure and contain the colour fields and patterns themselves take part in the process of superimposition. They are trimmed and limited, creating new areas, receding or becoming dominant. The elements of the picture search for their place and strive together for the right balance. This search is the painting process. The result is a network with views and insights into the history of the picture.
