Carlos Andrade was born in 1968 in Lisbon, Portugal. In 1990 he graduated in History of Art from the Autonomous University of Lisbon. Later, in 1995, he took a course in sculpture conservation and restoration at the professional school of cultural heritage sciences, participating in projects over several years, including his collaboration in 2000 in the restoration team at the Jerónimos cloister in Lisbon for the World Monument Fund. In 1995 he received a scholarship from the Youth Foundation in Vigo, Spain, where he assisted the Galician sculptor Armando Martinez in creating the monument to the poet Rosália de Castro.
In 1994, he began his artistic career at the International Sculpture Center in Pero Pinheiro Portugal as an assistant and where he held his first exhibitions.
In 1995 he won the national young art award and participated in several national and international symposiums, including in 1999 the 1st International Sculpture Symposium of Cantanhede, in 2004 the 4th International Symposium of Brazil in the city of Brusque, Santa Catarina, and 2006 the Sculpting Legion in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. There are public works in Portugal and Brazil.
Since 2010, he has been developing curatorial projects for various outdoor sculpture events for public entities. In 2018, he held an exhibition entitled “Skin of my skin” at the Lisbon gallery Trema contemporary art and since then he has participated in national and international fairs.
