Nasceu em 1977. Oriundo de uma pequena aldeia perto da Guarda, aí aprendeu com o pai o primeiro contacto com os materiais e absorveu a influência da atividade produtiva a partir da matéria. Estas experiências de base funcionaram, ao longo do tempo, como ponto de partida para a criação. A mudança para Lisboa, em 2000, inicia um percurso profissional de cerca de doze anos ligado ao Cinema e ao Teatro, na vertente de decoração e construção de adereços. Foi neste meio, estimulado pelos mais variados desafios, novas propostas e novos universos, que desenvolveu a sua inventividade. Nos últimos anos, tem participado em várias exposições individuais e coletivas e em algumas co-criações. O convívio e a abordagem de conceitos junto de outros artistas têm vindo a exponenciar a abertura dos seus limites criativos. Usando o ferro com principal recurso, o seu trabalho tem incidido, atualmente, nos contrastes entre a matéria e o vazio, entre o indivíduo e o conjunto e entre a estrutura e a fragilidade.
Rui Miragaia was born in 1977. Coming from a small village near Guarda, he learned with his father his first contact with materials and absorbed the influence of productive activity from matter. These founding experiences have worked, along the way, as a starting point for creation. Moving to Lisbon, in 2000, was the beginning of a professional path of twelve years in Cinema and Theatre, in the field of sets and props construction. In this medium, stimulated by the most wide-ranging challenges, new demands and new universes, he thoroughly developed his inventiveness. In recent years, he has participated in several individual and collective exhibitions, and also in some co-creations. The contact and the perspectives of concepts among other artists have boosted the broadening of his creative limits. Using iron as main resource, his current work has been focusing on contrasts between the matter and the void, the individual and the collective, between structure and insubstantiality.
